Just off the beaten path, “Sunset Retreat on the Cove" is within minutes of several ocean beaches, shopping, restaurants, historic sites and more. This property is so close to the Bass River marina, you can see it!

About Sunset Retreat on the Cove

The stunning sunrises and sunsets at this salt marsh never look the same way twice, making you feel like you are part of a different nature painting every day. The spacious backyard is beautifully landscaped, with room to run around the yard and play games. A large deck and patio below offer several areas to dine alfresco at home, read a good book or just sit back and relax, gaze at Bass River Marina and beautiful Horsefoot Cove, as well as natural wildlife in the seagrass, and fall in love with the view all over again.

We cannot express how phenomenal the nature views and water views at this home are. You will see osprey, great herons, mallard ducks, geese, sandpipers, and white  egrets and hear birds singing and owls hooting. High tide and low tides change daily, creating an abundance of interest on the Bass River. 

 

“Sunset Retreat on the Cove” is a ranch-style home with a lower level and walk-out basement. The interior of the home enjoys plenty of natural light. You will find a cozy and comfortable living room with ample seating to relax and enjoy a good movie. The living room offers sliders to the deck and views to enjoy. The kitchen has plenty of counter space for meal prep. The laundry is conveniently located in the kitchen. The dining room adjoins the kitchen and living room, and has a large table that seats 6-8 people. An additional table is available for puzzles or to play games. 

 

The primary bedroom with a King-size bed is on the main floor and has sliders to the deck with more views. There is another bedroom on the main floor with 2 Twin beds. There are 2 full baths and laundry on the first floor. Be sure to grab morning coffee on the upper deck and watch the sunrise.

 

There are two rooms on the lower level, one with a Queen-size bed and desk, and another room with 2 Twin beds and a loveseat. On the Cape, an outdoor shower is a “must-have” and is just steps from these rooms on the lower level for those who enjoy showering outdoors during the summer months. There is also a patio table outside on this level for grabbing coffee in the morning and enjoying the views.

 

For the Beachcombers

If you’re a beach lover, West Dennis beach is close by - a mere 4 minute drive from the property. It is a mile long, beautiful, sandy, ocean beach on Nantucket Sound, where the waves smoothly and calmly hit the shore and the gulls soar overhead and the salt air tantalizes your senses. You will collect plenty of seashells here. It has plenty to do for the whole family: there's a playground, snack bar, and kite flying area, showers and many lifeguard stations, along with a large parking lot.

South Village Beach is another fantastic nearby beach option and is a little under 2 miles from “Sunset Retreat”. It is a beautiful beach with clear refreshing water,  minimal seaweed and an abundance of shells to collect. It is also ideal for those that just love to play on the beach as the sand is very soft. The beach is large with plenty of room to spread out. The sandbar is nice and one can enjoy riding the tidal waves. South Village Beach is at the mouth of the Swan Pond River with a great current that flows at low tide, which allows for a lazy river ride. Be advised that there is no snack bar or permanent bathroom/changing facilities.

However, if you prefer the pristine sand of the Dennis beaches on the Northside on the Cape Cod Bay, they are easily accessible by car: Chapin Beach, Corporation Beach, Mayflower Beach should not be missed.

 

What’s Nearby

The Bass River Marina nearby has a nature boardwalk along the waterfront with access to 2 restaurants: Summer Shanty and Sundancers. Grab an early dinner and then walk home to watch the sunset. There are plenty more fantastic eateries, coffee shops, bakeries, ice cream shops and boutiques nearby accessible by car.

Bring your kayak or canoe, or rent one nearby and launch it at the Town Landing with 2 moorings down the street from the home. 

Bring your bikes and explore the best rated bike trails and walking trails in West Dennis, with easy access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail that stretches from South Yarmouth to Wellfleet. Bike rentals are also available nearby.

The Cultural Center of Cape Cod is located within one mile. It offers events that support Visual Arts, Music, Culinary Arts and seasonal activities. There is a Farmers’ Market every week during the summer.

Other attractions nearby include: the Whydah Pirate Museum, the Bass River Lighthouse, the Jericho House and Barn Museum, mini-golf, Cape Cod Inflatable Park, and more!

Cancellation Policy: One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges (less $250.00 cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 60 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. Fifty percent (50.00%) of the total booking charges (less $250.00 cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 30 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
